Rydev proudly participated in the regional forum “New Integrated Circuit and Semiconductor Technologies: Opportunities for Latin America?” held on May 11, 2025, in Panama City. The event was organized by the University of Panama (UP), the Panama Chapter of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society (CASS), and supported by the CASIF initiative from IEEE-CASS.
As part of the distinguished program, Dr. Alfonso Chacón-Rodríguez, CFO of Rydev Inc., was invited to serve as an IEEE-CAS Industry Distinguished Lecturer. He presented the iDLP lecture titled “Towards an IC Design Ecosystem in Latin America: What Do We Need to Open an ASIC Design House in the Region?”, sparking dialogue on the critical steps needed to position Latin America as a player in global semiconductor design.
The event also featured leading voices in the field, including Prof. Ricardo Reis, Dr. Victor Grimblatt, and Dr. Alexis Chacón, who addressed the current landscape of microelectronics and semiconductor design, the strategic role Latin America can assume within the global semiconductor supply chain, and the transformative impact of advanced insulation materials.
Following the lectures, Dr. Chacón-Rodríguez participated in a panel discussion with fellow speakers and representatives from UP and Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá (UTP). The panel explored how to better leverage the expertise of Latin American specialists, strengthen regional collaboration, and build on the success stories from countries such as Brazil, Costa Rica, and Chile—where significant progress has been made in establishing design-related capabilities.
According to event organizers, the forum welcomed approximately 35 in-person attendees and 50 virtual participants, highlighting growing regional interest in advancing semiconductor technologies.
At Rydev, we remain committed to driving meaningful conversations and strategic partnerships that support Latin America’s growth in the global semiconductor industry.
