As a Latin American company intent on producing its own research and development, and our continuing collaboration with our commercial and academic partners in the production of advanced ASIC designs, IP protection is certainly a major preoccupation at Rydev. That’s why we are thankful to COMEX, the US State Department and Sandia National Laboratories for their invitation to the “Safeguarding Research in Semiconductors and Microelectronics” course, which took place in San José, Costa Rica past October 22 and 23.
We had exhaustive expositions on the many vulnerabilities in the semiconductors supply chain, and how malignant actors can exploit them to gain access to sensitive information. Through guided examples and open case discussions, we learned about what public and private institutions can do to protect their valuable information, how to conduct due diligence and risk analysis on collaborative projects and how to mitigate or manage the risk involved, applying guidelines from such prestigious entities as the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). We certainly appreciate all the expertise and knowledge shared by Michael Bachman and his team at Sandia Labs, with the support from COMEX and the US State Department, during this intensive but very productive course.
